here and there.
Yayoi Kusama’s Fireflies on the Water recently opened at the Whitney Museum in NYC, in preparation for Kusama’s Retrospective that will open July 12. I saw this exhibition when it debuted at the Tate Modern this spring and am excited about the addition of another one of her environmental works in the show. (The Tate Modern only had 2 of her rooms and both felt more like examples rather than an actual experience) Check out past posts about Kusama HERE, HERE & HERE. (can you tell she’s one of my favorite artists?)
The first 10-minutes on this weeks This American Life is a really good story about Cindy Sherman. The episode is called Switcheroo and I rate it pretty high on a Must Listen Scale. Come on, just do it! Listen HERE. * side note Cindy Sherman’s Retrospective opens @ the SFMOMA July 14 & I just found out will be coming to the Dallas Museum of Art next spring! (!!!)
check out this cat-terrific hijack of the SFMoMA Website!
I am absolutely mortified by BRAVO’s new show Gallery Girls. Watch the trailer & roll your eyes collectively HERE.
& I finally got the exhibition catalogue for Matt Moore’s And the Land Grew Quiet. I won’t lie, seeing my name printed for the first time in an art publication, feels pretty darn good.
